Grid-tie, hybrid or commercial
What each system includes, and who should not buy it. Every system starts with your bill and a survey of your roof.
Grid-tie, hybrid and commercial at a glance
| Feature | Grid-tie | Hybrid | Commercial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runs in a brownout | No Shuts off for safety (anti-islanding) | Yes For the backed-up loads | Typically no Unless a battery is added |
| Battery | None | Included | Optional, quoted separately |
| Best for | Daytime-heavy homes | Night use and brownout-prone areas | Shops, offices and daytime loads |
| Starting band | From ₱155,000 | From ₱318,000 (5 kW) | Quoted after survey (10 kW from ₱420,000 as reference) |
| Net metering | Yes | Yes | Yes Subject to the utility |
Starting bands are planning figures, not a contract. The final price follows the site survey. How net metering works: net metering steps.
Panels + grid-tie inverter
Solar power is used in your home first. When the panels make more than you use, the surplus goes to the grid and can earn a net-metering bill credit.
What it includes
- Solar modules (brand and model named in your quote)
- Grid-tie inverter
- Roof mounting and rails
- DC and AC protection devices: breakers, isolators, surge protection
- Installation, testing and switch-on
- Permits and the net-metering application with Meralco
Who should not buy it
- You need power during brownouts. A grid-tie system shuts off when the grid is down (anti-islanding).
- Most of your use is at night and you would export most of your solar.
- Your roof needs repair first. Fix the roof, then install.
Panels + hybrid inverter + battery
A battery stores daytime solar for the evening and powers selected circuits when the grid is down. You choose which loads stay on.
What it includes
- Solar modules (brand and model named in your quote)
- Hybrid inverter
- Battery (brand, model and usable capacity named)
- Backup circuit for the loads you choose
- Mounting, protection devices, installation and testing
- Permits and net-metering filing, if you also export
Who should not buy it
- Outages rarely affect you and your goal is purely a lower bill. Grid-tie usually pays back faster.
- You expect the battery to run the whole house, including every aircon, all night.
- Your budget only fits a battery by shrinking the panels too much.
Sized to business loads
For shops, offices and small facilities. We size against your demand pattern, roof area and operating hours, as grid-tie or hybrid.
What it includes
- Load review from your recent bills
- Site survey of roof structure and electrical room
- Modules, inverter(s), mounting and protection devices
- Installation, testing and switch-on
- Permits and net-metering application where applicable
- A walk-through for whoever manages the building
Who should not buy it
- Your heaviest loads run at night and the building is closed by day.
- You lease the space and the owner has not approved roof work.
- The roof is due for replacement soon. Replace it first.
What can a 5 kWh battery keep on?
Tick the loads you want during a brownout. A 5 kWh battery covers lights, Wi-Fi and a fridge. Fans and a TV reduce the hours.
Not aircon. A 5 kWh home battery is not sized to run air conditioning. Aircon needs a much larger battery and inverter, quoted after survey.
